| Name: | Long-Reach (Jhalak) |
|---|
Long-Reach is from "The Survivor", a short story in Man-Kzin Wars IV, and is the property of some combination of Larry Niven and whoever wrote that story. It appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in , from which no profit whatsoever is being made.
Its tiny tag at Milliways is Jhalak.
Long-Reach is a Jotok, a member of an alien race with some very interesting physiology. Jotoki are made up of five arms arranged around a ring-shaped torochord instead of the notochord common to terrestrial life. Each arm has a working brain, respiratory and speech apparatus, and set of sense organs. The central "head" of the Jotok contains nothing more interesting than a digestive system. All together, the effect is like a cross between a spider and a reptile. That talks to itself. And climbs trees, if it can find them.
Needless to say, a Jotok's concept of individuality is... complex.
---
At Milliways, Long-Reach goes by the name Jhalak, and it is often referred to by female pronouns. Since Jotok reproduce asexually, the distinction's pretty much moot.
Jhalak is about the size of a large cat. Its main body mass is a little smaller than that, but the arms make up the difference and then some.
